CHEERLEADING IN SOUTH AFRICA

Cheerleading forms part of the sport that SAMCA has undertaken to manage, promote and grow within the Republic of South Africa.

Currently SAMCA cheerleaders competitively compete in 3 different age groups, namely primary school, high school and tertiary throughout the country at Provincial and National Level. Teams consist of All Girls (small and large) or Co-ed (small and large).

While cheerleading is not a sport often associated with South Africa, it has come a long way since its initial inauguration in the country in 1992. For more on this have a look at the History Section.
